Commodore Skye's origins are, by her own design, largely a matter of record and not conversation.

What is on file: prior to UFN service, Skye operated in independent frontier space, building a reputation as one of the most capable gunners outside the Navy's own ranks. Her transition into UFN service followed a breakdown in her prior circumstances, the specifics of which remain sealed under Fleet Security directive.

She entered UFN Intelligence in a probationary capacity, working directly under Rear Admiral Priya Aldercroft. What she brought to that posting is, by all accounts, difficult to overstate, information, contacts, and operational insight the Fleet could not have obtained by any other route. Her contribution during this period is credited with several successful operations, including at least one confirmed evacuation prior to hostile action.

Advancement followed on merit rather than tenure. Commodore Skye holds one of the most senior gunnery commands in the Navy, and her record as Fleet Chief Gunnery Officer speaks for itself in a way her file, deliberately, does not.

She is known throughout the Fleet for an informality that sits oddly alongside her rank, no ceremony, no patience for protocol for its own sake, and a first-name footing with the Fleet Commander that raises eyebrows on the Admiralty Board and nowhere else. It is tolerated for one reason: her gunnery does not miss.

The Fleet Chief Gunnery Officer holds command authority over all weapons systems, combat readiness, and offensive capability across the United Federated Navy. Commodore Skye serves as the Admiral's primary advisor on matters of engagement, firepower, and tactical response.

Specific responsibilities include:

Weapons Systems Command - operational authority over all UFN offensive and defensive armaments, from shipboard turrets to fleet-scale strike coordination
Combat Readiness - ensuring every vessel in the Fleet meets and maintains gunnery standards at all times, whether in active deployment or standing patrol
Tactical Advisory - providing direct counsel to the Admiral and Admiralty Board on engagement strategy, threat assessment, and rules of engagement
Gunnery Personnel - oversight of all weapons officers across the Fleet, including training, certification, and combat performance review
Engagement Authorisation - coordinating with Fleet Command on the authorisation and execution of offensive action in the field
Threat Response Planning - leading the development of contingency fire plans for known and emerging threats across the Frontier
