Debrief

The operation began as a routine school field trip mission. UFN Vanguard escorted UFN Mentor on a supervised transit with a controlled combat test en route to the nebula.

On approach, the situation escalated rapidly. Two AXIS ships intercepted and used teleportation to abduct Mentor’s full adult operations crew. That left the school ship full of children but without onboard command staff, creating an immediate safeguarding crisis. Vanguard’s crew had to assume protective responsibility for the children while continuing the mission in emergency mode.

Federation Command approved deployment of transporter-trace tracking and remote command software. Science teams on Vanguard installed and calibrated the package, then followed successive signal pings to identify the source of the abduction teleport. Along the route, the task force encountered multiple smaller hostile contacts. Because Mentor could no longer function as a normally crewed vessel, Lieutenant COUGAR controlled it remotely via Relay, issuing command orders to keep it protected, positioned, and out of direct danger while pursuit operations continued.

During this scan and search, the crew performed admirably - safeguarding minors, maintaining escort integrity, and running distributed command under stress. Vanguard balanced pursuit and protection effectively, keeping Mentor under managed control throughout each engagement.

At the final trace source, Vanguard’s crew secured the area and executed recovery actions. The abducted adult operations staff were extracted and returned safely to UFN Mentor. With command personnel restored, immediate risk to the children dropped to manageable levels, and both ships were able to stabilize and proceed under regained supervision.
