Debrief

The mission debrief for this deployment is complicated due to the nature of the time loop distortion faced by the crew of the UFN Vanguard - what is known is that there was a strange device in the region that seemed to be forcing everything in the sector to be reliving the same 10 minutes over and over again. Indeed, as far as your logs show, you were only out of contact for approx 10 minutes before FC COMMODORE SMARTY checked in and heard what happened.

It appears to be the work of AXIS - the AI thought to haven been developed by Umbra - as each wave ended with the destruction of the sector by the AI's forces.

It is unclear from your automatic logs WHEN these events happened, but we have logged the following actions during your many loops:

At some point, the crew realised there was a TSN fleet under attack. Once rescued, they learned the location of a nearby TSN research base with the means to stop the time effects being seen in the area. The crew proceeded to TSN Outpost to retrieve the module needed to allow Lieutenant SPOOKY on Relay to interact with the artifact when in close enough range.

The crew also found the old UFN Echo-12 base - a long range scanning station - which they used to pinpoint the specific location of the artifact.

Armed with the location and interaction programming, the crew destroyed the artifact, ended the loop and drove away the AXIS forces, who did not seem to return after the loop ended - suggesting they may have had a had in this incident. AXIS is now classed a a MAJOR threat in UFN space.

All crew to be placed on medical leave and monitored for chrono-based side effects. The Flight Commander also noted that the crew did discuss using the self destruct. We do not want to encourage this - even if a confirmed time loop scenario.
