Debrief
Operation Resonance began with orders to disable UMB Meridian using the experimental Enhanced EMP system. Instead, the strike triggered an unexpected anomaly and transported the crew to an unknown region of space.
There they encountered a hostile alien faction identifying themselves as the Darkness, about whom the UFN has almost no intelligence. Further encounters with this alien race occured during the mission, giving valuable combat data UFN Intelligence is currently reviewing.
The crew discovered an abandoned UFN research station and learned its science team had previously created a wormhole home. One researcher, Professor Calder, had remained behind.
After locating Calder and recovering his research, the crew searched the surrounding artefacts for the material needed to reproduce the process.
Only two samples were needed before the crew identified the correct artefact. An impressively efficient search.
A successful experiment opened a wormhole linked to Meridian, allowing the crew to return. They emerged to find UMB Meridian and its supporting forces attacking UFN Omega.
The crew dispatched 4 hostile ships despite the arrival of Umbra reinforcements. With the attacking force taking heavy losses, Meridian ordered the survivors to break contact and flee.
Professor Calder survived the expedition and successfully returned through the wormhole with the crew. His research has provided UFN Command with invaluable intelligence on both the artefacts and Umbra's experimental technology. Calder will receive a formal commendation from UFN Command and has been granted priority resources to continue his research.
UFN Omega survived the assault and remained operational after the Umbra withdrawal. The station suffered damage, but its successful defence preserved a critical UFN installation and secured the region.
The operation concludes with Omega secure and UFN forces maintaining control of the sector.
