Operation: Thin Ice - Debrief

UFN UFN Vanguard arrived at TSN Outpost Harrow-12 and established contact with Cmdr Mason for first-hand reporting. Cmdr Mason confirmed Harrow-12 had been attacked by a ship identifying itself as "UFN Dark Dawn", with the strike profile presented as UFN-linked aggression. Given the political climate, that single claim was enough to put TSN-UFN relations on the edge.

Despite initially being hostile toward the crew, the TSN delegation were persuaded to trust us when we supported them through the attack from the Ghosts. This has helped ease tensions and will be a bridge in fixing the situation at a diplomatic level.

Fleet Command then issued a critical correction: central registry held no valid UFN vessel under the name Dark Dawn. On that basis, UFN Vanguard was tasked to pursue the lead to Freeport 99 and verify whether the Harrow-12 attacker was operating under a fabricated identity.

At Freeport 99, the suspect ship broke away before challenge and moved out fast. As UFN Vanguard closed, two supporting contacts appeared, both broadcasting UFN-style signatures to reinforce the deception. These were engaged and destroyed. Combat records showed the same technical signature on both ships: once shield strength collapsed, the spoofed transponder layer failed, and each contact was exposed as Ghost. The false UFN profile was therefore proven to be shield-supported masking, not valid fleet authentication.

Following this action, Fleet Command relayed a fresh track placing UFN Dark Dawn on approach to a known Ghost meetup route. Vanguard was ordered to intercept and force identity collapse on the primary suspect to obtain attribution evidence strong enough for both intelligence and diplomatic release.

In the final engagement, UFN Vanguard maintained pressure on Dark Dawn and reduced shield integrity until the transponder mask dropped. At failure point, Dark Dawn was likewise outed as Ghost. UFN Vanguard’s black box automatically captured the identity transition event, including handshake and timing data, and relayed it live to central command.

With that relay, command received what it needed: verifiable proof that the Harrow-12 attack was conducted under falsified UFN identifiers by Ghost-aligned assets. UFN Intelligence can now proceed on a narrowed investigative path, and the Diplomatic Corps has credible material to demonstrate UFN non-involvement.

Post-objective, Captain BLUE was granted open license to inflict maximum damage on hostile assets in-sector before disengaging and returning to UFN-controlled space.

Final assessment: The Harrow-12 deception has been fully revealed, responsible actors identified, and formal diplomatic relations restored.
